A gift from Friesland!
MIJKE BOS deelt de schoonheid van dit gebied op een functionele, verantwoordelijke en artistieke manier door deze hippe handgemaakte tassen.
De locatie van de foto is subtiel vermeld in de tas, waardoor het een uniek item is. De eerste lijn bestaat uit: Moddergat, Ternaard, Leeuwarden, Ameland en Dokkum, haar thuishaven.
De tas is gemaakt van natuurlijk materiaal, namelijk 100% BCI katoen. Better Cotton Initiative is een samenwerkingsverband tussen ontwikkelingsorganisaties, milieuorganisaties en het bedrijfsleven en richt zich op het verduurzamen van de katoenteelt. Het printen vindt plaats in Dokkum (FR) en is volledig duurzaam. Er wordt gebruik gemaakt van een hele unieke printer, die pigmentinkten gebruikt op waterbasis. Daarnaast is het uitwassen van de print bij deze printer niet nodig, waardoor er veel water wordt bespaard. Het naaien vindt plaats in Kollum (FR) bij het NEF, een sociaal leerbedrijf voor mensen met een afstand tot de arbeidsmarkt. Het volledige productieproces is dus lokaal.
THE STORY
Mijke Bos, a Dutch photographer based in Friesland, wants to share the beauty of this region on a functional, responsible and artistic way. Every bag is made with an original photo taken by her. The bag is named with the place where the photo was taken and tells a story about Friesland.
The complete process takes place in Friesland. The bag is made of 100% organic cotton. The printing in Dokkum (FR) is sustainable due to its low use of water. The sewing is also local and takes place in cooperation with a social learning company in Kollum (FR).
Terschelling
Graag kom ik in de herfst of in de winter op Terschelling. Het is een plek waar het altijd mooi is, ondanks het weer. Vandaar ook de grijsblauwe tinten die ik zo met Terschelling associeer.
Het drenkelingenhuisje op Terschelling staat ongeveer 7km vanaf het laatste strandpaviljoen. Je kunt er alleen te voet of met de fiets komen, waardoor het er dus heel rustig is. Vroeger fungeerde het als schuilplaats voor gestrande schippers.
I like to come to the island Terschelling in the fall or winter. It is a place where it is always beautiful, despite the weather. That's why I used the gray-blue tones that I associate with Terschelling.
The drowning house on Terschelling is about 7 km from the last beach pavilion. You can only get there on foot or by bike, so it is very quiet there. It used to function as a shelter for stranded sailors.
